Super8 Film

Analog Film: The Art of Super8

Shooting on Super 8mm film creates an image with beautiful imperfections, grain, softness, and colors that simply cannot be recreated digitally. For brands, using this medium adds authenticity and immediately stands out. We love combining film and digital intentionally when a project allows us that creative opportunity.

Texture & Soul: Mixing Film with Vintage Lenses

This series highlighting the Art Scene in Charleston was the perfect opportunity to incorporate Super8 film alongside digital. We wanted the series to have a distinct look which we achieved through using vintage Canon FD lenses and incorporating Super8 film sporadically. We’re very proud of the four videos in this series featuring Corey Alston and his daughter Corinne, Meyer Vogl Gallery, Charleston Stage, and Chelsea Goer.

"We completely trust Vive Media to run with our initial vision and tie in their own creativity and talent to produce unique, high-quality content that highlights the Charleston area in an amazing light."

Telling the Stories of Local Makers

This ‘Meet The Makers’ series with Explore Charleston was another project where we had the creative freedom to incorporate Super8 film. The raw, authentic nature of film helped us tell these Makers stories in a unique way.

Charleston Wine + Food: Unlocking Creative Freedom

Charleston Wine+Food festival might be our favorite weekend of the year. We get to pull out all the fun, creative, weird ideas we’ve been cooking up and they give us the creative freedom to go for it.  We’ve been incorporating film for a few years now, and it adds a fun vibe to the edits while also creating that authenticity that keeps people coming back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Physical celluloid film features beautiful imperfections, organic grain, softness, and rich colors that cannot be perfectly mimicked digitally. For trend-setting lifestyle brands, artisan makers, and major culinary festivals, incorporating analog film elements adds immediate human authenticity, nostalgic texture, and high-end artistic separation that stands out on digital feeds.

We operate vintage film hardware directly alongside our modern digital configurations. This hybrid methodology allows us to balance the reliability of modern resolution with the raw, distinct character of real celluloid.

Pairing digital sensors with classic vintage optics relaxes the overly sharp, sterile look of modern video. This adds an organic softness, unique flare patterns, and an artistic warmth that distinguishes your brand assets from generic corporate media.
